Toronto Maple Leafs Presented with Massive Opportunity Against the Anaheim Ducks

Tonight, the Toronto Maple Leafs are taking on the Anaheim Ducks in what should be a very interesting matchup between teams going in very different directions.
The NHL playoffs are just three weeks away and the Toronto Maple Leafs are in a good spot with just nine games left in the season.
They are one point ahead of the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Florida Panthers for first place in the Atlantic Division, and there is a feeling that they can win it.
At this moment, it feels like making the playoffs is a foregone conclusion, however, the team isn't actually guaranteed a spot just yet. That would be too easy.
Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Anaheim Ducks
However, the Maple Leafs have been presented a very good opportunity tonight as they take on the Anaheim Ducks, while the Panthers take on the Montreal Canadiens.
If the Leafs can win tonight and the Panthers beat the Canadiens, then the Leafs will be guaranteed a playoff spot. Although it seems unlikely that Toronto falls into the Wild Card area.
The Maple Leafs can OFFICIALLY clinch a playoff berth tonight if they defeat the Ducks in any fashion AND the Canadiens lose to the Panthers in any fashion.
Right now, the Leafs just want to win the Division because that way, they can play a Wild Card team in the first round, which would help them out a ton.
As it stands, that team is the Ottawa Senators which makes things fascinating going forward here. The battle of Ontario would be a phenomenal first round.
Meanwhile, the Panthers and Canadiens are playing right now and the score of that game is 1-1 which means there is no telling how that one will fall.
All the Leafs can do is play their own game and make sure they do everything possible to win against a bottom-feeding Ducks team.
