Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll hasn't had a great stretch of games and with Anthony Stolarz emerging, there were questions about his status tonight.
This is especially true as
Joseph Woll has struggled mightily over the past couple of games or so, letting in nine goals in two games against the two worst teams in the league.
Joseph Woll gets the start against the Anaheim Ducks
Playing Stolarz two nights in a row was always going to be a bit of a stretch, however, there were some fans and analysts who were asking for it given the race for the Atlantic Division.
However, just a few moments ago, Joseph Woll learned his fate and it is exactly what we were expecting given the circumstances.
According to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, Woll will be getting the start tonight, while the rest of the lineup is going to remain exactly the same. Simply put, Nick Robertson is out.
The Maple Leafs caught a huge break today as the Florida Panthers lost to the Montreal Canadiens in regulation.
This means the Leafs officially have the points lead in the Atlantic Division and they can push that lead to three points with a win tonight.
Against a team like the Anaheim Ducks, there is no denying that a win is expected tonight. Even being on the road, this is a game that Joseph Woll needs to win.
With a loss, there is a real chance that Woll loses the net for the rest of the season, which would truly be disappointing to witness.
