Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube recently spoke about Mitch Marner who was infamously asked to waive his no-trade clause at the deadline.

However, the trade never went through as Marner refused, which isn't surprising considering the fact that he has consistently noted that he wants to remain in Toronto.
Regardless, this is a bit of a distraction for the forward and one can be sympathetic to the fact that it is not easy to go through something like this.

Craig Berube on Mitch Marner

Recently, Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube was asked about his superstar forward and whether or not he has had a difficult time handling what is going on.
Despite the distractions, Berube noted that Marner has been great and that he has been purely focused on the task at hand.
"Mitch has had good energy. He's been real good. He's got a lot of energy every game, every practice. He seems happy. You know, those are the things I focus on as a coach."
Unfortunately, the Maple Leafs ended up losing tonight in a close game against the Florida Panthers.
This is going to hurt the team's chances to win the Atlantic Division and a lot of fans out there are going to be very upset with this result.
Having said that, the team will have a chance to bounce back on Saturday against the Ottawa Senators and on Monday against the Calgary Flames.
There is a lot riding on this ending to the season and it is going to take guys like Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews to step up their play and really lead this team to some greatness.
