Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi has been horrible to start the NHL season, and on Tuesday, head coach Craig Berube spoke on his forward's struggles.
Max Domi only had eight goals last season, and his 33-point performance also left a lot to be desired. After all, the production did not match the salary.
Going into this season, the hope was that Domi would be able to find his stride playing on the top line with
Auston Matthews and
Matthew Knies.
Craig Berube gets honest about Max Domi
In the first nine games of the season, Domi has just one point. It was a goal, but he has gone without a point in the vast majority of the games this season.
Today, head coach Craig Berube was asked about Domi's issues and what is causing them. As Berube explains, a lot of this has to do with training camp.
Up and down. Missed a lot of camp. That always hurts a guy a little bit. Just kind of not fully healthy, in my opinion.
Claiming that Domi isn't fully healthy is letting him off the hook a little bit here. The forward could be a lot better, and he is not holding up his end of the bargain right now.
The Toronto Maple Leafs need much better from their forwards, and Domi is one of them, especially since he is making over $3 million per season.
Having said that, when you are playing on the fourth line, it is expected that you probably won't get to generate very much offense.
Only time will tell whether or not the Maple Leafs are able to get more out of Domi, and perhaps even get a win tonight against the Calgary Flames.
