Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan was not good for Team Canada throughout the World Juniors, and it culminated in a Quarter-Finals elimination.
Easton Cowan is a forward who came into the World Juniors with a ton of promise, however, he ultimately left as one of the most hated teenagers in all of Canada.

Cowan was seen as a puck hog throughout the tournament who refused to pass the puck, regardless of the occasion.
For instance, while on a 2-on-0 with Oliver Bonk in the Quarter-Finals against the Czech Republic, the Maple Leafs prospect made a selfish play that robbed Bonk of a tap-in.
In the end, Team Canada lost to Czechia by a score of 4-3 which made for the team's second-straight elimination in the quarter-finals.
After the game, Easton Cowan was asked about the team's loss, which led to a profanity-laced answer that really tells the tale of how this tournament went for him and his teammates.

However, there are plenty of other culprits here that need to be examined, including head coach Dave Cameron, and the entire Hockey Canada governing body.
Cowan is just a symptom of a larger problem, and hopefully, Hockey Canada will have some self-reflection heading into the World Juniors next year.
As for the Maple Leafs prospect, he will now go back to the London Knights where he will try to pick up the pieces of a historic season.
