Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner is likely to leave in free agency; however, it appears as though things are getting pretty bad between both sides.

Mitch Marner has reportedly decided not to return to the Toronto Maple Leafs next season. Although it still remains to be seen who he will sign with.
Overall, this was an inevitability as both sides were no longer feeling one another. In the eyes of many, it was simply the correct thing to do for both sides to move on.
However, it would appear as though the relationship is permanently fractured, and there is no repairing it, at least not before July 1st rolls around.

Mitch Marner disrespects the Toronto Maple Leafs

During the latest episode of '32 Thoughts,' Elliotte Friedman made the revelation that Marner has not been returning the Leafs' phone calls.
The front office has tried to negotiate a new deal with the superstar winger, but he will not pick up the phone. To add insult to injury, all of his teammates believe he's leaving.
From my understanding, the Maple Leafs are still trying to get some type of deal done involving Marner, but his camp hasn't gotten back with any alternatives.

There's also a feeling that Marner's teammates believe he's also gone, but word around is that some are quietly thinking that he'll be headed out West somewhere, but obviously this is just speculative.

At this point, the Maple Leafs need to just cut their losses and move on. It is clear that Marner does not want to play for the team.
Convincing him to stick it out is a fool's errand. You might as well just call it and allow the winger to leave. If you can negotiate a sign-and-trade, that would be ideal.
While some fans might be disappointed by this, you have to have seen it coming from a mile away. The writing has been on the wall since the months of May.
Only time will tell where Mitch Marner goes next. If one thing is for certain, it is that there are plenty of teams who would want him.
