Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson continues to be shuffled down the lineup, and according to Elliotte Friedman, a day of reckoning is coming very soon.

Nick Robertson and the Toronto Maple Leafs have not had the best relationship over the past few years, as there have always been looming trade rumors.
Throughout the summer, it became clear that Robertson wanted a larger role with the franchise. With arbitration looming, it was even clearer that the Leafs would have preferred to trade the forward.
Now, Robertson has a raise and isn't even playing well enough to justify it. With just one assist in six games, Robertson has even been shuffled down to the fourth line.

Nick Robertson's future with the Toronto Maple Leafs in question

It really does feel like the Leafs and Robertson are reaching a critical mass, and that something needs to be done, sooner rather than later.
According to Elliotte Friedman, the entire NHL recognizes that this relationship is all but over. There are many who are preparing for a trade, and even Friedman himself believes it might be time to pull the trigger.
I think Nick Robertson in Toronto, that's one I think the Maple Leafs are trying to solve, I think people kinda recognize it's time, so we'll see if they can find something there
That may sound dramatic to some, and that is because, in some ways, it is dramatic. But it's not wrong when you think about what is happening with the forward.
At some point, the Maple Leafs are going to need to do something. Robertson continues to get one-year deals, and as of next Summer, he can leave for nothing.
This would be a great opportunity to actually get some kind of value back for Robertson, before it is ultimately too late.
Only time will tell whether or not Robertson gets dealt, and if the Leafs get fair value in return.
