David Kampf Hits Rock Bottom with the Toronto Maple Leafs Organization

Toronto Marlies forward David Kampf used to play for the Maple Leafs, but to start this season, he is having the worst stretch of his entire career.
David Kampf is someone who should be a lot better than he is right now. Last season, the forward played over 50 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
However, he ultimately became trade bait all throughout the Summer. Now, there is no space for him on the roster, and as a result, he is playing down in the AHL.
Unfortunately, even the AHL is proving to be too big for the forward. In his first two games, he has failed to register any points and is even a -1.
David Kampf is an AHL healthy scratch
What makes this fall off even more shocking from Kampf, is the fact that the forward was not in the lineup when the Toronto Marlies played on Saturday night.\
Despite years of NHL experience, Kampf was reduced to a healthy scratch at the AHL level, which certainly has to be a low point in the forward's career.
Some felt like it could be indicative of a trade that is about to happen, although it seems a lot more likely that he got scratched due to his play.
At the end of the day, the AHL is a place to develop forwards, and some of the young guys are going to be a priority over someone with experience, especially if they won't produce.
One has to wonder if the Leafs will look to make a deal, although given this recent news, Kampf's value has not been any lower than it is right now.
Overall, the Marlies organization needs to figure some things out, and we wonder whether or not Kampf will be back in the lineup, anytime soon.
Either way, this is sad to see, and we can only hope that the forward finds his game again soon.
