Ex-Toronto Maple Leafs Goalie Flexes New Accolade Following Alexander Ovechkin's Historic Moment

Former Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Curtis Joseph mostly got to avoid Alexander Ovechkin during his career but the one time they did play, it went Joseph's way.
Curtis Joseph had two separate stints with the Toronto Maple Leafs and during that time he became beloved by the city and his teammates.
Overall, he was a reliable goaltender and while he never won the Stanley Cup or even got a Vezina, he was one of those guys you just always had to root for.
His Cujo nickname was also pretty dang cool and as it so happens, the goaltender has had a small part in history: Alexander Ovechkin's scoring record.
Curtis Joseph gets one over on Alexander Ovechkin
Joseph is one of the few goaltenders in the history of the NHL who played against Ovi and didn't allow a single goal against him.
In fact, as a celebration of this achievement, Budweiser sent Curtis Joseph a commemorative beer can which lets people know that he wasn't a victim of Ovi's wrath.
It is a very cool gift to receive and we're sure Joseph was feeling pretty good about himself considering he's one of very few goalies who can say this about themselves.
At the end of the day, Alex Ovechkin is the greatest goal-scorer in the history of the NHL, and Joseph never let him score.
While they didn't play against each other a ton, this is still very cool and we hope that Joseph doesn't just let this go unnoticed. He should definitely be bragging about this.
As for Ilya Sorokin, he is now part of hockey history for all of the wrong reasons as Ovi scored the 895th goal against him. Of course, in years time, this will be very memorable for him.
We are just happy to see so much history and so much greatness in the game of hockey and hopefully, that continues to be the case.
