Jake McCabe Receives a Double Dose of Bad News at Toronto Maple Leafs Practice

Jake McCabe is one of the best defenseman on the Toronto Maple Leafs right now although he found himself in some trouble last week after getting into the boards against the Florida Panthers.

The incident happened with just one minute to go in the game and he was forced to go back to the Leafs locker room.

On Saturday, McCabe was ruled out against the Columbus Blue Jackets, although the team still managed to win by a score of 5-0.

Today, the Maple Leafs were back on the ice for practice ahead of back-to-back games against the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

These games have massive Atlantic Division playoff implications and encouragingly, both McCabe and injured forward David Kampf were back on the ice.

Unfortunately, head coach Craig Berube took the wind out of the sails by announcing to the media that McCabe and Kampf would be out for the next two games.

Overall, the Toronto Maple Leafs need to rack up the wins going forward and this certainly will make things more difficult.

When McCabe is not in the lineup, the Leafs have proven to be a much weaker team, and while the win against Columbus was great, the Lightning and the Panthers are a different beast.

Simply put, the Maple Leafs are going to need to figure some things out and get the best play possible from their defenseman going forward.

That means guys like Morgan Rielly, Simon Benoit, and Philippe Myers raising their level of play.
