Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll has the weight of the world on his shoulders and one former NHL goalie is adding to that weight in unproductive ways.
Joseph Woll and
Anthony Stolarz have been splitting the net for the Toronto Maple Leafs this season although more recently, it has been Woll who has played better hockey.
Carter Hutton pumps Joseph Woll's tires
During a special edition of the Leafs Morning Take show with Jay Rosehill and Nick Alberga, Hutton made some very interesting comments about Woll.
While he acknowledged that Stolarz was fantastic in the early going of the season, he went on to say that Joseph Woll could be the X-factor in the playoffs.
Furthermore, he made the claim that the Brick Woll is one of those goaltenders who can steal a series and that he even envisions him winning the
Conn Smythe trophy.
When Rosehill and Alberga had started looks on their faces, Hutton did acknowledge that it was a bit of a reach although you never know what can happen when the postseason comes around.
Joseph Woll has a goals-against average of 2.74 and a save percentage of .907 this season which is good but it doesn't exactly jump off of the screen.
Having said that, Woll has proven to be solid in the postseason before and the Leafs would be counting on him to be solid again, barring a late-season stretch of brilliance from Stolarz.
Whatever the case may be, we can all agree that a Conn Smythe for Woll probably isn't happening anytime soon.
