Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper had some dismissive comments about the Toronto Maple Leafs that will get a lot of fans riled up.
With Atlantic Division supremacy on the line last night, the
Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning by a score of 4-3 in overtime.
However, Lightning head coach Jon Cooper was not too impressed with the Leafs after the game, or at least that is what it sounded like.

Cooper dismissed the effort of the Leafs and noted that it was all his team's fault that they ended up losing.
He cited the team's missed shots as well as the fact that the Leafs blocked a total of 36 shots which is just absolutely absurd.
"They bent. They didn't break. We had 90-some-odd shot attempts tonight, but it is a little unheard of that we only had 28 shots on goal. It is a lot on us. We missed the net 26 times. That is a lot. We had 36 blocked. I know they block shots, but they don't block 36 of them. We were probably a little guilty of not executing on some of the things we could've. In that sense, if we are going to keep playing the way we did after the slow start, I will take our chances."
However, Cooper did add a concession noting that because the Leafs swept them in the regular season, they have earned the division.
"If they win the division, they deserve to beat us because they swept us this year. In the end, that is what it is going to come down to."
With four games to go, the Leafs have a three point lead on the Lightning for first place and if they win three of their last four games, they will clinch.
This will go a long way for the Maple Leafs as they would secure two rounds of home ice advantage.
