Kyle Dubas was a controversial general manager for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and now that he has had time to reflect, he is letting the fans know his biggest regret.
Now, he is the general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and once again, his methods and his moves have become a hot topic of debate in Steeltown.
Kyle Dubas made some mistakes with the Toronto Maple Leafs
Recently, the general manager was on the Cam & Strick Podcast, where he was asked about some of his biggest regrets while working with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Shockingly, it had nothing to do with the Core Four. Instead, it was the
Mason Marchment trade, which sent the forward to the Florida Panthers. Now,
Marchment is with the Dallas Stars and has been a huge member of their core.
The Leafs got Denis Malgin in return, which is a move that did not pan out. Needless to say, Dubas is right to feel this way about the Marchment situation.
At the end of the day, you can't rewrite the past, so there is absolutely no point in doing so. Instead, you just have to roll with the punches.
The Maple Leafs are in good hands under general manager Brad Treliving, and while Dubas did what he could, there is no denying that Leafs fans trust Treliving just a bit more.
Regardless, without
Mitch Marner on the roster, the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to be at a bit of a deficit, and Brad Treliving will have to pick up the pieces.
Whatever the case may be, the Leafs are an organization that is always being scrutinized, and for that reason, Kyle Dubas will always have to be extra reflective.
