Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly has been wrapped up in numerous trade rumors as of late, and his no-trade clause is a source of debate.
After a topsy-turvy season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, there has been all sorts of discourse about whether or not
Morgan Rielly should be traded.
Morgan Rielly will not waive his no-trade clause
According to Nick Kypreos, the Rielly trade talks should be dead in the water at this point. We know this because he and his camp are refusing to waive the no-trade clause.
Kypreos claims both sides even had a discussion about a trade, but Rielly wants to remain in Toronto for now.
I do believe there have been conversations whether directly or indirectly around Morgan Rielly and his camp, whether or not they'd be open to...lifting the no trade clause; the feedback I'm getting is, not at this particular time
It makes sense that Rielly would feel this way. He still has an infant child at home, and moving to a new city would make things difficult.
Furthermore, he has been very adamant about staying in Toronto and seeing things through to the end. He really wants to win a championship here.
If Morgan Rielly doesn't get back to his old ways next season, then the trade rumors are only going to get louder and louder.
Only time will tell whether or not the defenseman retires in Toronto, or ends up somewhere else in short order.
