Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies is currently in the midst of negotiating a brand-new deal with the franchise, and fans want to know the potential cost.

Matthew Knies had a phenomenal season with the Toronto Maple Leafs last year, and he has earned himself a pretty sizeable contract.
However, that contract is still in the midst of being negotiated. If the Leafs cannot get a deal done by July 1st, then rival teams could send offer sheets to the young forward.
Knies has revealed that he has no intentions of signing an offer sheet. But if the money is right, he may just have no choice but to take the plunge.

How much will Matthew Knies make next season?

Recently, we mentioned Frank Seravalli's report in which he revealed what it would take for a team to pry Knies away from the Maple Leafs for good.
In that same report, Seravalli also revealed what he thinks Knies will actually make on his next deal. Overall, the insider claims $7.5 million is probably the safest bet.
However, he thinks this will actually be a bridge deal, considering Knies won't want to waste potential UFA years later down the line.

I think the projections are slightly off on Matthew Knies, I do think the 7.25-7.5 AAV is correct, but I don't think it's that number if you start to buy more UFA years, because this is a guy who's already at 30 goals.

He plays a totally physical brand of hockey with speed, size, toughness, he's a human nail gun, 182 hits last season, he's a special player. With that said Wyatt Johnston set the table for you with $8.4M for 5 years.

With that said you'd have to really present something significant and it would have to be something in that 11x7 range, under the four 1st RD pick compensation to get the Leafs to really think long and hard about saying no.

If you are a Maple Leafs fan, then you are going to want Knies to remain on this team for the long haul. He is a great kid and could help replace the void left by Mitch Marner.
Ultimately, the Leafs remain one of the best teams in the league, and Knies should want to stay in such a big hockey market.
Hopefully, the Leafs are able to make this negotiation process a short one. We do not want to see any offer sheets.
