Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner has been known for having a colorful agent in Darren Ferris, and some fans think Ferris wants to control the narrative.

Darren Ferris and the Toronto Maple Leafs have had a love-hate relationship over the last 10 years. Although, if you ask fans, it is mostly hate.
It is theorized that Mitch Marner will be leaving the Leafs in free agency this summer, and a new report from the 2 Mutts Hockey Podcast seemingly confirms that.
This report lays out why Marner is supposedly upset with the Leafs and how it begins with a betrayal of sorts.

Report says Mitch Marner not returning to the Toronto Maple Leafs

In the tweet below, you can see that the big claim is that Marner was offended by the Maple Leafs asking him to waive his no-trade clause.
Marner was open to resigning with the @MapleLeafs on an 8 year deal after the playoffs were done but he changed his mind after the trade deadline when the Management Staff asked him if he was interested in going to the @Canes for Mikko Rantanen, Marner felt a lack of respect, trust & belief was gone at that point.

With him having welcoming a new member to his family a trade out of Toronto wasn't something he expected from the organization at that time. He believed that this never should have brought to his attention as he's always wanted to stay but he wanted to get through the season first.
Marner was even willing to stay this summer, when the season started, but the trade deadline really forced his hand.
It sounds like if there was a change in the Management Staff after the season Marner would be welling to stay & sign a team friendly deal on an 8 year term. Marner wasn't expecting any changes but if there was any he would stay. The hope was to make it to the @StanleyCup Final at the start of the season & as the playoffs went on the belief was still strong on that happening.

Marner loves the City, The Coaches, the fans, his teammates & is all in on seeing this through but with what was presented to him at the Trade Deadline it would be hard to make this all work with all parties staying put. It was something Marner & his family had a tough time getting over.

The report wraps up with the idea that Mitch thinks things could have stayed cordial had it not been for the Mikko Rantanen debacle.
Marner felt he was upfront & honest with his situation at the start of the season. In no way was a trade something he could imagine.

It's unfortunate that this sounds like the end for Marner as a Leaf. It's really sad it all ends this way. He should go down as the Greatest Leaf born in Toronto.

Fans on social media, however, are not buying it. In the replies to the 2 Mutts Hockey Podcast, fans accused Ferris of allegedly trying to plant stories in order to sabotage the Leafs.
They believe Ferris is doing everything he can to make his client look like a saint before he inevitably walks away from Toronto for good.
These allegations cannot be confirmed. However, there is no denying that this recent report is a suspicious one, especially given the lengthy nature of it.
