Nazem Kadri Trade Talks Re-Emerge & the Toronto Maple Leafs Are Front and Center

Calgary Flames forward Nazem Kadri has been brought up in trade rumors quite a bit over the past few months, and each time, the Toronto Maple Leafs are a focal point.
If you are a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, you are probably dreaming of a world in which Nazem Kadri is still playing for the team.
Kadri was a phenomenal player for the Leafs. He was gritty, he could score goals, and he had the personality of someone who belonged in Toronto.
Now, he plays for the Calgary Flames, who have started the season with an abysmal 1-6-1 record. It's clear that the team needs some help, or they just need to blow it up altogether.
This abysmal start is certainly interesting when you consider how Kadri was brought up in trade conversations throughout the Summer. At the time, it was noted that the forward is too important to that team's playoff hopes.
However, with the Flames showcasing very little will to make the postseason, the tides on Kadri could shift in just a matter of weeks.
Could the Toronto Maple Leafs get Nazem Kadri?
According to Elliotte Friedman, teams are calling about Kadri, and this has the Toronto Maple Leafs written all over it. Meanwhile, the haul for Kadri is going to have to be extreme, to say the least.
Can you imagine the haul that Calgary's going to be asking for, if if if, Nazem Kadri's out there?
It's been said before, but the Toronto Maple Leafs don't exactly have the best assets to make a deal for Nazem Kadri a reality. It's the sad truth, but these are the facts.
The Leafs would have to dig into prospects like Easton Cowan and Ben Danford, and we highly doubt that they are going to want to do things like that.
However, Kadri is someone who is very tempting to this franchise, and his trade availability will be something to watch out for as the season goes on.
