Shocking News Out of Minnesota Spells Major Problems for the Toronto Maple Leafs

Mitch Marner is going to be the priority for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the offseason and everyone knows it.
Unfortunately for the Leafs, there are other teams with similar problems right now, and they might be running up the market for skilled forwards.
For instance, according to Michael Russo and Joe Smith of The Athletic, the Minnesota Wild need to sign their superstar scorer Kirill Kaprizov.
In their report, they claim that the Wild are seemingly willing to sign Kaprizov for about $15 to $16 million per season, which is absolutely ludicrous.
"Our gut says the Wild get a deal done with him. After all, when they put an eight-year deal worth $120 or $128 million on the table this offseason, that type of security should be enticing for a player who just missed half the season due to injury."
This is not good for the Toronto Maple Leafs because if Kaprizov gets anything over $14 million, then Mitch Marner and his camp will try to justify something similar.
As it stands,
Auston Matthews makes $13.5 million per season and the Leafs are not interested in paying Marner more than that, even with the salary cap going up.
