Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving needs to make a move soon, and former player and current analyst Jay Rosehill has some thoughts on who to move.
There are two players on the
Toronto Maple Leafs who are very likely to be traded prior to the start of the NHL season.
Specifically, Kampf barely got playing time in the postseason, while Jarnkrok was unable to get points and make significant offensive contributions.
Recently, Jay Rosehill of Leafs Morning Take spoke about Kampf and Jarnkrok, and there viability of being dealt.
As for Kampf, Rosehill is worried about his game beyond the defensive zone.
He just seems really quiet, he's good in the d-zone, he's good on face-offs, but if we're talking about a team that's going to make a run, I think i need a little bit more. He's got a pretty hefty contract too and he doesn't really move the needle for me.
Meanwhile, Rosehill isn't so sure Jarnkrok has the guts to keep up with today's game.
When you're getting up there in age and it's hard to be dynamic and the league's getting as good as it is, it's hard to invoke your will on the game as well.
As for who has more value, the former enforcer believes the answer is clear.
I think Jarny is able to play through the lineup a little bit more, I think Jarny has the kind of skill to jump up in the lineup and maybe play on the second line if need be, but we're talking about them in this position for a reason.
Simply put, the Leafs can and should trade Jarnkrok as quickly as possible. If they can trade Kampf as well, they should do that.
