The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Florida Panthers are going to have a great rivalry this season, although an injury has the potential to derail one team's entire year.

Going into this season, the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to be looking at the fight of their lives with the Florida Panthers, who have maintained all of their stars.
Overall, the Leafs' postseason loss to the Panthers this past year was a difficult pill to swallow, especially since the team could have made it to the Stanley Cup Finals.
Instead, the Panthers won their second-straight Stanley Cup, much to the chagrin of every single Toronto Maple Leafs fan in the entire world.
Going into this season, the Panthers are the favorites to win it all again, although a recent development could put Florida at risk of a rough start.

Aleksander Barkov goes down with injury at Florida Panthers practice

During today's training camp practice, Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov went down with an injury to his right leg and was unable to get up.
He needed to be helped off the ice, and he appeared to be in quite a bit of pain in the process. One can't help but wonder what the prognosis is.
It appears as though the Panthers will have more to say about the injury on Friday, although there is no telling if this is actually going to be the case.
This is very bad news for the Panthers, or at the very least, it could be depending on what the team learns about the injury over the coming days.
As for the Toronto Maple Leafs, this is something they might have to take advantage of, especially with the Panthers being a Division rival.
Either way, you never like to see a player go down, and our thoughts are with Barkov right now.
