Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander was not a participant at practice today, and it led to a statement from head coach Craig Berube, who faced the media.
William Nylander had one of the best seasons of his entire career in 2024-25 as he finished off the campaign with an impressive 45 goals and 84 points.
The regular season is set to begin on October 8th, and with training camp underway, it appears as though Nylander is already facing the consequences of daily workouts.

Today, the forward was kept out of the Leafs' practice, which came as a bit of a surprise to fans on social media, who immediately expressed some concern.
Thankfully, Craig Berube spoke to the media after practice to dispel any kind of concerns people may have had. Ultimately, we should see Nylander back soon.
A little banged up, but he's fine
Meanwhile, we also got some updates on
Simon Benoit and
Max Domi, courtesy of Luke Fox. Both players will be ramping up their efforts over the coming days.
Simon Benoit (upper body) did not skate. Plan is to skate Friday.
Max Domi (lower body) is a possibility to play first preseason game Saturday.
We cannot wait to watch Nylander get back into the action over the coming weeks, as the Maple Leafs look to kick off a comeback season.
Only time will tell whether or not he can compete with
Auston Matthews for the most goals on the roster.
