Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson has been mentioned in trade talks, and the Toronto Maple Leafs are one of those teams that could use him.
Rasmus Andersson is a solid defenseman who had a bit of a down year with the Calgary Flames, given the fact that the team just wasn't firing on all cylinders.
He had 31 points as opposed to the 50 he had just a couple of seasons ago. Moreover, his plus/minus was pretty abysmal, which is unfortunate.
That said, there have been some rumors as of late concerning
Andersson and whether or not he will be with the Flames for very much longer.
Not to mention, Leafs general manager Brad Treliving knows Anderson quite well from his days as GM of the Flames.
Will the Calgary Flames trade Rasmus Andersson?
However, the Leafs and other teams throughout the NHL were essentially told that Andersson isn't going anywhere. He himself has refused a trade request from the Flames, while Frank Seravalli reports that the team is content with starting the season with him.
The Calgary Flames I believe are totally content on starting the season with Rasmus Andersson
As the season goes on, there is a chance that Andersson could be dealt, thus creating an opportunity for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
For right now, however, the Maple Leafs are simply going to have to look elsewhere and see where they can improve the team.
Brad Treliving is not in an easy position, and fans shouldn't expect any blockbuster deals, anytime soon.
