The Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the teams gunning for Jonathan Toews in free agency; however, it seems as though the forward might be going somewhere else.
Jonathan Toews wants to make an NHL comeback, and it has been confirmed that the Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the many teams trying to sign him.
There are about seven teams in the running, and just yesterday, it was believed that the Leafs were among the top franchises on Toews' list.
However, some new information has come out courtesy of Elliotte Friedman, and this information seems to suggest that the forward wants to go elsewhere.
Is Jonathan Toews coming to the Toronto Maple Leafs?
On the latest episode of '32 Thoughts,' Friedman made the point that the Colorado Avalanche and the Winnipeg Jets are the top two teams on Toews' list.
As for the Toronto Maple Leafs, they did not make the cut. Instead, the dark horse to sign Toews is the Tampa Bay Lightning, who have a pretty solid roster.

In his comeback, Toews is expected to be a third-line Center. Nothing more, nothing less. However, there is no doubt that the Maple Leafs could use someone like him.
Unfortunately, it does not seem like a union is possible. Of course, that could certainly change in the coming weeks.
Friedman also spoke at length about Game 4 between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers, which turned out to be a truly spectacular game.
Now, the Stanley Cup Finals are tied at two games apiece, and we could not have gotten better entertainment.
