Toronto Maple Leafs Investigation Proves Mitch Marner is Sabotaging the Franchise

This past week, Mitch Marner created a huge discourse firestorm when he decided to sit down for an interview with Mark Masters of TSN.

During this interview, Marner made the claim that someone doxxed him online following the playoffs. As a result, he needed security at his home for two full weeks.

Throughout these two weeks, the forward felt unsafe in his own home and was worried that his life may very well be in danger.

This has created a huge conversation online about Maple Leafs fans and whether or not this Marner interview has poisoned the well for the Maple Leafs going forward.

Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun followed up the Marner interview with a report of his own, refuting some of the claims that Mitch made while speaking to Masters.

Namely, Simmons notes how the Leafs investigated the threats against Marner. At the time, they determined that the forward did not need more security. Instead, the team felt like the threats were empty, and a response was not necessary.

Simmons goes on to argue that Marner and his agent, Darren Ferris, are purposely making the Leafs and their fanbase look bad on their way out the door.

Why? Because then Marner's departure would be justified. Ferris has also been giving interviews lately, and they have been just as negative.

With all of that being said, it remains clear that Marner's departure will be a good thing for the Leafs in the long run. If the forward is truly trying to poison the well, then you don't want someone like that on your team.

Either way, this is going to hurt for a few months, especially as the Leafs learn to play without the superstar.
