Toronto Maple Leafs Trick Fans Into Thinking They Signed Mitch Marner

The departure of Mitch Marner has certainly left some Toronto Maple Leafs fans feeling empty, and it is completely reasonable for them to feel that way.

Overall, Marner was a larger-than-life player for the Leafs, and without him, the offense is certainly going to struggle. However, the team is still working on filling the gaps.

In fact, earlier today, the Maple Leafs signed defenseman William Villeneuve to a two-way deal, meaning the offensive d-man could get some playing time this season.

What made this signing so interesting is that some fans were confused and thought the Leafs had somehow found a way to bring back Mitch Marner.

Why? Well, it is all because Villeneuve and Marner are practically doppelgangers. In full equipment, they look identical.

When the announcement was made, some Leafs fans really felt as though they were being duped, or a prank had just been played on them.

Ultimately, Leafs fans are going to need to let Mitch Marner go, once and for all. Instead, they must move on and learn to live without him.

While that is certainly going to be difficult, we do believe the Leafs have a solid roster right now and will be able to accomplish quite a bit.

The playoffs are still very much in sight for this team, and we don't believe they will be relegated to the Wild Card either.

For now, the fans will just have to wait and see, and whatever happens...happens.
