William Nylander and Matthew Tkachuk were going at each other's throats on Sunday night as the Florida Panthers managed to tie their second-round series at 2-2.
Overall, it was a bad game for the Leafs who were shutout. Meanwhile, the Florida Panthers were physical and overwhelmed Toronto on both sides of the puck.
However, Nylander does not seem to care. While speaking to the media after the game, the Maple Leafs forward said Tkachuk was all talk, making him look like a fool in the process.
"Just talking. That's what he does."
"He'll probably do whatever he can to get a player off their game, but yeah, the next game's going to be a fun one. I think they did a good job keeping us on the outside and hard getting to the inside, letting their goalie see the puck. Yeah, they did a great job. The series, it's a tough battle."
"Yeah, I mean, 2-2," he said. "It's going to be a long series. That's our mindset."
Overall, the Florida Panthers still have the upper hand here as the momentum is on their side following these previous two games.
The Maple Leafs are going to have to put their best foot forward at home on Wednesday, with an opportunity to go up 3-2 in the series.
If they lose, they will be on the verge of elimination. This makes Wednesday a must-win game and fans will be hoping for the Leafs superstars to show up.
Hopefully, the Leafs understand just how important this game is to not just themselves, but the fanbase as well.
