Alternative Scenario Presented Between Calle Jarnkrok and the Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Calle Jarnkrok has been talked about as trade bait as of late; however, there is a scenario in which something else happens.
The market for Jarnkrok just doesn't exist right now, and general manager Brad Treliving has had a tough time getting him out of town.
As a result, the Leafs have to think about a scenario in which Jarnkrok starts the season with the team, and perhaps even exceeds expectations.
Calle Jarnkrok contract extension still in the cards
In the event that the Leafs change their minds and decide to actually sign Jarnkrok to a contract extension, The Leafs Nation has explored what the cost would be.
Right now, the forward is making $2.1 million per season. If the Leafs were to sign him to a contract extension right now, he would make another $2.1 million per season.
What is interesting about this projection is that it at least supports that Jarnkrok's contract isn't a burdensome one to move, especially now that the signing bonus has been paid out and only $775k of salary is owed for the year. With Jarnkrok suspected to be one of the odd men out on the roster, it seems like it shouldn't be too onerous to find a new team for him.
Simply put, some things just don't change. After seven points in 19 games last season, Jarnkrok is going to have to put on a show to get a raise.
At this stage, he is going to be a solid bottom-six player for a team in need. But with the Leafs addings tons of bottom-six forwards, it's hard to imagine where Jarnkrok fits in.
Whatever the case, some tough choices will have to be made by general manager Brad Treliving.
