Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll took major flack from Craig Berube on Thursday night and now, the goalie is speaking out on what went wrong.
Joseph Woll did not have a good game on Thursday night as the San Jose Sharks lit him up with five goals on 35 shots. It led to a 6-5 shootout loss and fans were not happy as the Leafs struck out twice against one of the worst teams in the league.
This was another bad game for the goalie who allowed four goals in the previous game against the Nashville Predators, another NHL bottom-feeder.
Joseph Woll speaks after Craig Berube went off
Woll let in a pretty horrific goal during the game as he tried to play the puck but sent if off of a Sharks player and right into the net.
While speaking to reporters today, Woll was brutally honest about the goal he let in, noting that he has to be better although sometimes, bad plays do, indeed, happen.
"Just a bad play. Sometimes you make bad plays. I was looking up ice. My brain turned off for a second, and it's unfortunate. Once something like that happens, you have to do your best to put it behind you. There's no point in lingering on it."
This weekend, the Toronto Maple Leafs play the Los Angeles Kings and the Anaheim Ducks which should prove to be very interesting.
The Maple Leafs need to win and they need both of their goalies to start playing like they were at the start of the season.
If they can't figure it out, then this team may just be hopeless come playoff time, which would be a real shame.
If you are a fan of the team, you can't help but hope the Leafs pull themselves together and show the world that they aren't playoff chokers.
