Luke Haymes Proves Naysayers Wrong with Insane First Goal for the Toronto Marlies

Last week, the Toronto Maple Leafs made some big waves as they signed guys like Luke Haymesw and John Prokop to entry level contracts.

Last night, they followed this up by signing Ryan Kirwan out of Arizona State University, and it proved to be a huge move as many other teams were looking to acquire his services.

However, this weekend was huge for the Marlies as they played Prokop and Haymes for the first time, which was something that fans were excited about.

The team was playing back-to-back games which meant today's matchup was the second game of the season for Haymes.

Fans were very eager to see what Haymes could do especially since he had built a reputation as a scorer during his time with Dartmouth College. After a relatively uneventful first game, the forward had his breakout moment tonight.

Below, you can see the highlight of his very first goal which was an absolute beauty as he deked the goaltender out of his equipment. It was the perfect goal and a great way to get your first as an AHLer.

While it is just one game and one goal, there is no doubt that this bodes well for the forward who wants to make the NHL next season.

There are no guarantees pertaining to what his ceiling might be, but this is a good start for the kid and we are absolutely loving his first couple of games.

The Leafs are building out their future prospects quite nicely and there is a lot to be excited about for fans of the team.

Add in a 3-2 win against the Anaheim Ducks tonight and you have a team that is three points up in first place in the Atlantic Division.
