Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Mitch Marner scored the game-winning goal against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night and it was definitely a beauty.
Mitch Marner is having the best season of his career so far as he has 26 goals and 72 assists for 98 points with three games left in the season.
It is going to be fascinating to watch him go moving forward, and the fans are very excited about what he might do come playoff time.
Mitch Marner scores on the Montreal Canadiens
Last night, Marner's heroics were on full display as he was able to score the game-winning goal in overtime agains the Montreal Canadiens.
After the game, the forward explained everything that went right for him to be able to do such a thing.
"Big save by Stolls.... We talked that Brando was going to change; I was going to jump over and play D in that 3-on-3. Luckily, he jumped over. Willy made a great play, a little curl up, and I was able to have some time to go downhill and pick my spot."
Tonight, the Maple Leafs play the Carolina Hurricanes and there is a real opportunity for the Leafs to come out here and maybe sure up the Atlantic Division.
If they do that, then the fans are going to be grateful for an eternity. It would also mean they get to play the Ottawa Senators in the first round of the NHL playoffs.
One has to wonder what kind of series that would be. The Sens have had the Leafs number all season but the playoffs are a completely different beast.
Hopefully, everyone gets what they want and the Montreal Canadiens secure that second Wild Card as well.
