Mitch Marner Subject of Huge Announcement by the Toronto Maple Leafs

Going into this season, there was a lot of pressure on Mitch Marner to do some big things for this Maple Leafs team.

Overall, the Leafs have not had a ton of playoff success during the Marner era and fans have been fairly annoyed by that. It has always felt like the team could be doing a whole lot better, especially when the going gets tough.

However, the superstar forward has had the best season of his career so far. He finished with 102 points and with a new contract coming in the summer, it is clear that he has upped his value.

In the eyes of fans, Mitch Marner is one of the best players in the NHL and he will be paid like that once free agency begins. He could even make upwards of $14 million.

However, the Leafs are currently about to embark on the NHL playoffs and that is what most fans are thinking about right now. Fans want Marner to have the best playoffs of his career, and there is a real chance he does just that.

The forward is going to be motivated heading into the Stanley Cup playoffs and we say that because today, it was revealed that he won the Molson Cup for the entire Leafs season.

Given his 102 points, it only makes sense that he would be given this honor. 27 goals and 75 assists is nothing to scoff at.

Marner is a player who has overcome a lot of adversity and you have to appreciate his current resurgence after being ripped to shreds during the offseason.

Now, however, he has to do it when it matters. If he doesn't, then the Leafs might just decide to send him packing in the offseason.

Only time will tell what happens going forward. A series win against the Ottawa Senators would most certainly be a great start, all things considered.
