Toronto Maple Leafs Get Some Sage Advice Amid Anthony Stolarz Contract Talks

Anthony Stolarz was a revelation for the Toronto Maple Leafs last season, and now, the goaltender is in the market for a new contract that could break the bank.
Now, he is going into the final season of his two-year, $5 million deal, and there has been a lot of discourse surrounding whether or not the Leafs should extend him.
The assumption is that he would get a significant raise, but there is no guarantee that he plays as well as he did last year. This is something that Pierre McGuire discussed on Toronto Sports Rush.
Pierre McGuire on the Anthony Stolarz situation
McGuire made it clear that he thinks Stolarz was an absolute steal for the Maple Leafs in free agency.
However, he does think that the Maple Leafs will have to wait and see, instead of signing him right now. If they do sign him, it will have to be for four years.
I thought he was the biggest steal in free agency last summer... I think Toronto is a wait and see situation for him. If he has a big season this year, I do think he will be able to get 3 or 4 years on term.
Ultimately, the Toronto Maple Leafs have a great goaltending situation right now, especially with
Joseph Woll also on the roster.
Overall, the Maple Leafs' goaltending is probably their strongest position, but the Stolarz contract situation will make things difficult for general manager Brad Treliving.
Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs are able to figure things out and get another netminder locked up for the immediate future.
