Toronto Maple Leafs Organization Terminates the Contract of a Fringe Defenseman

Matt Anderson had been brought in by the Toronto Maple Leafs organization to play for the Toronto Marlies, however, he was never able to make a name for himself.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been making some moves as of late as it pertains to NCAA free agents who could be future players on the NHL roster.
However, with these additions to the team also comes some unfortunate subtractions. Of course, this is the cost of doing business.

ECHL defenseman for the Toledo Walleye
Matt Anderson had been brought in a couple of years ago but never really found his footing.
He only played three games with the Marlies a few years ago and played four games with the Marlies this season but wasn't able to do anything beyond that.
As a result, the Leafs organization terminated his contract today thus giving the team more flexibility to play guys like Prokop.
The Marlies have released Matt Anderson from a pretty long-term PTO - he only played 4 games, but was on the roster for awhile
That should give Prokop some decent rope for games as the regular season closes out.
Haymes was solid already yesterday with a 1G 1A performance.
This is likely going to come as a huge disappointment to Anderson and trust us, we feel his pain. However, he was a good ECHL player and we're sure a team would love to have him back.
One has to wonder whether or not this is the end of the line for his professional hopes or if he is able to get another shot.
For now, however, the Leafs are more occupied with their shiny new NCAA players who are looking very good so far.
