Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid is in for a rough contract negotiation, and according to a new report, it isn't going all the way according to plan.
Connor McDavid is easily the best player in the entire NHL, and with his contract expiring in 2026, there have been numerous reports about contract extension talks.
Most reports claim that McDavid is going to sign in the next couple of weeks from now. Moreover, some believe he will be looking at a short-term deal.
As for the salary, reporters like Frank Seravalli have maintained that someone like McDavid is probably going to make upwards of $17.5 million per season.

However, reporter John Shannon says things are going to take a turn, and that McDavid is not worth close to what some analysts are professing.
Instead, the deal is going to be lower than what fans think. Of course, he will likely make more than Leon Draisaitl, but even $16 million per season might be a stretch.

Overall, Connor McDavid could ask for anything, and the Edmonton Oilers would probably oblige. At the end of the day, they just want McDavid on their team.
