They lost due to some pretty bad goaltending as well as a myriad of other factors that include poor defensive breakdowns and a lack of offense until the third period.
With the Toronto Maple Leafs in the midst of
the Atlantic Division title hunt, they need to start winning games handily, and they have to do so against bad teams.
Craig Berube on the Maple Leafs lineup
This weekend, the Leafs play the Los Angeles Kings and the Anaheim Ducks. Tonight's game is against the Kings, a pretty solid team that will be making the playoffs.
Head coach Craig Berube needs to make sure his team is ready for this tilt, and part of that means fielding a lineup that can compete with the best of 'em.
According to Luke Fox of Sportsnet,
Pontus Holmberg will be back in the lineup after being scratched for
two games in a row, however, we do not know who is coming out.
As for the goaltending, Berube is refusing to name a starter right now although we should know who is going in goal at morning skate.
If the Maple Leafs want to have any opportunity at doing something significant in the postseason, they need the goaltending to be in tip-top shape.
After a win by the Florida Panthers on Friday, the Leafs are one point behind for the Atlantic Division lead. That means they must start winning, especially with the Panthers coming up on Wednesday this week.
