Mitch Marner Livid with Referees After Ridiculous Roughing Call on Matthew Knies

Mitch Marner had himself a good game against the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night as he picked up a goal in what was a 3-2 win for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Leafs finished out their West Coast road trip with two wins in a row and now, they are up by three points on the Florida Panthers for the Atlantic Division lead with just eight games to go.

While last night's win was a good one, it also came with a bit of controversy thanks to a roughing call on forward Matthew Knies.

As you can see down below, Knies laid a huge hit which eventually led to a scrum. When he tried to defend himself, he ultimately got hit with a penalty.

This was a controversial one as there should have been guys on the Anaheim Ducks getting penalties as well. In the end, that did not happen and Mitch Marner was furious.

As reported by Luke Fox of Sportsnet, Marner was yelling at the officials, giving them a piece of his mind as he was simply livid with everything that had gone down.

Eventually, cooler heads prevailed and the Leafs killed off one of the biggest power plays of the entire game. The match was tied at this point and things could have gone sour fast.

This just shows that the Maple Leafs have each other's back and they will do anything to prove to each other that they will stand up when something isn't right.

In the end, it was fourth-liner Steven Lorentz who got the game-winning goal. He now has seven goals this season and three of them are game-winners.

The next game will be on Wednesday where they will take on the Florida Panthers in what is most definitely a must-win scenario.
