NHL players like the PWHL rules
Recently, NHL players voted in the annual NHLPA poll, and it was here where they were asked to select which PWHL rules they would like to adopt in the men's game.
The most popular option was the "Jailbreak Goal." Essentially, if you score shorthanded, your penalty expires immediately.
Furthermore, NHL players seem to be big fans of the 3-2-1-0 points system, which is something that fans have wanted ever since the introduction of the shootout.
Other rules being considered are the team finishing in first place choosing their first-round playoff opponent. NHL players also seem fond of shooters being able to take infinite shots in the shootout.
Overall, the PWHL is trying some cool stuff and it would be great to see the NHL adopt these rules. Whether or not they do that or not, remains to be seen.
Either way, it is cool to see the women's game influencing the men's game. Innovation is a good thing and hockey should always strive to be better.
If anything, the most likely outcome is that the NHL institutes the 3-2-1-0 points system, which was tried during the 4 Nations Face-Off.
