Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has been having a great first season with the team and it seems like he is surpassing legends like Pat Quinn.
Craig Berube is the successor to Sheldon Keefe, who was not able to get things done in the playoffs for this
Toronto Maple Leafs team.
Craig Berube continues to uplift the Toronto Maple Leafs
Overall, the Toronto Maple Leafs look great under Berube which is impressive given the fact that it is his first season with the franchise.
In fact, a few games ago, the head coach broke a franchise record. He now has the most wins as a first-year head coach in the history of the Maple Leafs. This puts him ahead of legends like Pat Quinn and Pat Burns.
Most wins by a Leafs head coach in his first season with the team:
- Craig Berube: 50 and counting (2024-25)
- Pat Quinn: 45 (1998-99)
- Pat Burns: 44 (1992-93)
While this is definitely cool to see, the fans are only going to care if this translates into some playoff success.
At this point, Leafs fans have been starved for something good to happen, and a first-round playoff series against the Ottawa Senators could yield something to cheer about.
Regardless, Berube still has a lot to prove with the playoffs approaching. If he can get this team into the Eastern Conference Finals, then the fans will be eternally grateful.
Firstly, the team must get through the likes of the Buffalo Sabres and the Detroit Red Wings. These will be the final two games of the regular season.
