Reporter Who Irritated Mitch Marner Claims the Forward is Leaving the Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner recently did an interview with Jonas Siegel that turned out to be unproductive and quite frankly, worrisome.
Mitch Marner and the Toronto Maple Leafs have yet to sit down for a conversation about his contract, which expires at the end of this season.
The superstar forward is looking at a deal worth $100 million come the summer, and the Leafs are most certainly willing to give it to him.
However, there are fears that Marner and his camp will be looking for more than he is worth, which will lead to him walking away from the team that drafted him.
Is Mitch Marner leaving the Toronto Maple Leafs?
The forward recently spoke to Jonas Siegel of The Athletic in an interview that seemed to test Marner's patience.
He clearly did not want to talk about his contract, even though that is the only thing interesting about the forward right now, apart from his career-year, of course.
In fact, Mitch Marner was so evasive during the conversation that Siegel told TSN Overdrive that he believes the forward is leaving in the summer.
"I left the conversation less sure he wants to stay than before. Now, that is just reading between the lines, and only he knows what exactly he is thinking, and obviously the playoffs will have a lot to do with everything, but I probably went into that 50-50 as to whether he stays or goes. I left it leaning more towards he might leave."
Marner leaving the Maple Leafs would be a hard pill to swallow for a lot of fans out there and we just can't imagine him leaving under these circumstances.
Of course, if the playoffs go poorly for Marner, then perhaps both sides will have no choice but to part ways and try something new.
This is going to be a fascinating few months, and we wonder what's next for the superstar forward, who is coming up on the most important postseason of his career.
