A new report from Elliotte Friedman may have just blown the doors wide open on the Toronto Maple Leafs finally trading struggling forward David Kampf.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Kampf is currently with the Toronto Marlies, as there just isn't any room for him on the roster.
Since the summer, the Maple Leafs have been trying to trade Kampf, but it just hasn't worked out. Kampf is aware of these trade talks and is very clearly upset with his situation.
In four games with the Toronto Marlies, the forward has only managed one assist, which is abysmal for a player who should be NHL caliber.
As a result of this frustration, Kampf has decided to take a stand, and it is one that all but confirms a trade is on the horizon.

Are the Toronto Maple Leafs done with David Kampf?

According to Elliotte Friedman, Kampf is refusing to travel with the Toronto Marlies to Chicago.
As a result, there is a feeling that the Leafs are closer than ever to trading the forward. It is common for players who are in the midst of trade talks to miss games to avoid any injuries.
Reporting tonight that a frustrated David Kampf did not join the Marlies on their trip to Chicago and could be moved. One assist in four games since clearing waivers. He has a $2.4 million US cap hit.
The Toronto Maple Leafs will likely get very little in return for Kampf. In fact, they may even need to include another asset for teams to take this deal.
Kampf's term is too much, and his salary is too much as well. He is not worth $2.4 million per season, even with the current salary cap.
It will be difficult for general manager Brad Treliving to get something done, but he must work hard, or else, the Leafs are in big trouble.
